Do you have questions about home steam shower systems? The experts at Mr.Steam are always happy to answer questions related to their innovative product line. In the past, we’ve answered questions about towel warmers, steam generator noise, and the importance of Mr.Steam AutoFlush technology.
Today’s question comes from a reader who has been enjoying his Mr.Steam steam shower system for over a decade:
Hello, I have had one of your products for 13 years.
I have replace the control panel, mounted in the shower, once. It is out again. So, I am looking and wondering if I need to just buy a new system. We are about to do some other updates to our bathroom. As far as I know, the main steam producing unit continues to work, but in looking at the controls, you have clearly made substantial progress with the design. So, I guess my question is should I consider a complete new system, or should I just update the controls?
Thank you for you advice and counsel.
Jeff
Jeff, thank you for your question!
Mr.Steam recommends that you take advantage of this bath remodeling project and upgrade your steam shower system. If the other planned improvements involve opening up the walls, then this would be the perfect time to route the wiring and control cabling needed to accommodate the newest series of steam generators, controls, and accessories that were not available 13 years ago.
In order to update your steam shower control, you will actually need to replace the outdated system. Just as it would be impossible to update a 13 year old car with components designed for a brand new vehicle, the older steam generators would not be able to communicate with the latest steam shower controls. Because Mr.Steam works to continuously improve and innovate our product line, nothing in a 13 year old steambath generator is compatible with the most recent new series of controls.
Some of the latest and greatest new luxury steam shower accessories that are now available from Mr.Steam include:
While you are upgrading your steam shower system, make sure that the components are installed correctly the first time to help prevent future problems and costly repairs. To ensure safe and efficient installation and operation of the steam bath generator equipment, the manufacturer installation instructions and guidelines must be followed along with any other local and national plumbing and electrical code requirements. Should questions arise about any installation instructions, please feel free to call our technical support team for any help or clarification.
Also, make sure the equipment is installed in a way that will make it easily accessible to make repairs less costly and time-consuming. Mr.Steam often receives calls from contractors who have buried the cables or the generator deeply inside the wall, where they cannot easily be reached for servicing.
