As you can probably imagine, developing an LCD touch panel designed to be used inside a shower enclosure was a complex task. Mr. Steam engineers investigated a wide range of current technologies, but found that none of them were designed to work in wet, hot and humid environments. The biggest challenge the designers faced was sealing out moisture.
To keep the hardware inside the control safe and dry, the glass face of the iSteam is carefully sealed to its aluminum closure, and a special coating is applied to the screen that causes water to bead up and fall off. The touch panel is actually so carefully designed to keep out moisture that it can safely operate in 3 feet of standing water.
Inside the touch panel, advanced, highly-sensitive technology ensures the electrical circuits can tell the difference between the touch of a user’s finger and beads of water.

Using the iSteam is incredibly simple, beginning with just one START button. The control contains two dozen beautifully designed graphic displays in all, but the real beauty of the iSteam is that there is no complex navigation to learn –simply swipe and select the options you want. There is no confusing keyboard of tiny buttons to search through. All of the many features, including temperature, duration, aromatherapy, chromatherapy, and music, are hidden until they are needed.
The touch panel itself virtually disappears into the shower environment. Designed to be set into the wall of the shower enclosure, the iSteam is only 1/8” thick, so it appears to be almost flush with the wall. The diamond cut edge of the glass is so precise it creates a mirror-like finish that beautifully reflects its environment.
