Mr. Steam Becomes Provider of Continuing Education Courses for Leading Architect and Design Associations

LONG ISLAND CITY, NEW YORK (APRIL 6, 2011)—The American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC) have separately approved Mr. Steam as a 2011 course provider for each organization’s Continuing Education System. Both associations are primary sources of ongoing professional education for the design and building communities.

The AIA/CES and IDCEC training courses provided by Mr. Steam, titled Installation Guidelines for Steam Shower Systems, address the documented health benefits of steam therapy as well as the proper specification, installation and maintenance guidelines for residential steambath systems.

“The training reinforces the mental, physical and emotional benefits of steam; highlights steam’s efficient water use vis-à-vis whirlpools and custom showers; and establishes guidelines for effective equipment sizing and installation,” explains Dan Reinert, vice president of sales and marketing for Mr. Steam.

AIA members are required to complete 18 hours, also called Learning Units (LU), of continuing education annually. Eight hours must relate to Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW) topics, and through its AIA/CES course, Mr. Steam provides one LU of HSW credit.

Similarly, IDCEC members completing the course qualify for one LU of HSW requirements. IDCEC training program credits are accepted by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), Interior Designers of Canada (IDC), Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC) and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA).

“Since the AIA/CES course was launched in 2010, we’ve held about 75 training sessions nationwide,” say Reinert. “With the addition of the IDCEC tract, we anticipate holding up to 150 trainings during 2011.”

There is no charge for either course, both of which can be delivered in person by trained representatives or online from Mr. Steam’s educational partner, Architect-Forum, a registered provider with the American Institute of Architects Continuing Education Systems.
