Promising guests they will leave "refreshed and enlightened," the Lumeria Maui resort serves up a luxurious steam shower as part of the restorative process.
Owner-developer Xorin Balbes, who created Lumeria as a sanctuary for authentic transformational travel, hand picked the MrSteam steam shower with aromatherapy for the Japanese-style shower in the resort's top suite.
“I use steam to refresh myself, for aromatherapy, to remove the toxins from my body and get rejuvenated,” he says. “Just 20 minutes in the MrSteam shower makes me feel like I just went to the spa.”
Balbes followed his signature design principle, SoulSpace, throughout the property’s renovation, focusing on simplification and the value of incorporating peace, harmony and beauty to improve our lives.
“SoulSpace is about creating a space that is designed purely for the person living in it,” Balbes explains. “We want to provide guests with a healing home away from home. When people leave here after their stays, I want them to feel restored, more centered, more grounded. Having MrSteam in the space is another way of taking care of one’s health.”
Steam therapy is a time-honored approach to wellness, which Lumeria guests appreciate. Steam opens pores, cleansing skin more thoroughly and softening it. Adding aroma promotes deeper relaxation and helps ease stress. It can also encourage more restful sleep.
“The people we’re attracting are more adventure travelers or more spiritually minded and into nature and activities,” Balbes says. “Those same guests are also into well-being, eating correctly and taking care of their bodies.”
Incorporating the steam and aromatherapy shower in the deluxe Ali’i Suite added another touch of luxury to an already idyllic island setting. “It’s like having a spa experience,” Balbes says, explaining his choice. “It is the perfect indulgence for the best room in the house.”
"Enjoying the steam shower is what Lumeria Maui is all about,” Balbes concludes. “It’s one of the ways we use to assist people in reconnecting with themselves.”
No wonder guests leave feeling as though they have "connected with the natural rhythm of their soul."
