Keeping track of kitchen and bathroom trends isn't all about spending a Day at the Spa at Aria for BlogTour Las Vegas With Mr.Steam. It also includes absorbing and distilling everything that takes place at a show like the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) and highlighting - in this case - three trends you'll want to watch in 2014.

KBIS 2014, by the way, took place in Las Vegas in partnership with International Builder's Show and attracted more than 80,000 visitors to the Las Vegas Convention Center. Talk about an opportunity to explore, experience and discover what's ahead for design trends!

We think the three kitchen and bath design trends detailed below are particularly meaningful because BlogTour Las Vegas judged the Best of KBIS 2014 and the Innovation Booth Awards. This required vigilant browsing through numerous brands and new product introductions to determine which represented the most cutting edge and remarkable kitchen and bath design ideas.

From Mr.Steam's perspective, these trends contribute to beautiful homes that truly relax and renew:

KBIS 2014 bathroom design trend: personalization

1. Kitchen & Bath Design Trend: Personalization

One common theme present throughout KBIS was personalization. Often bundled with organization, personalization creates a solution unique to the end user.

The Blanco One sink from Blanco America combines sleek design with unique customization options and high level of organization. The new design offers three different sink sizes and custom designed accessories to accommodate any user's style and needs. Talk about a completely personal experience!

Brands Poggenpohl and Wood Mode offered uniquely organized and customized cabinetry.

German company Poggenpohl is well known for sleek modern kitchen design. However the real innovation is within the cabinetry drawers. Poggenpohl designs drawer spaces that allow for immaculate organization and complete personalization.

The user can choose a variety of organization options, including drawer and pull out inserts that create specific spaces for anything from cutlery to favorite spices.

WoodMode designs custom cabinetry allowing the user to develop a personal design starting with the choice of trim to paneling and different organizational pull outs.

Mr. Steam similarly integrates customization within its design, offering steam showers with varying generator sizes and Steam Therapy options including ChromaTherapy, AromaTherapy and MusicTherapy for a personal oasis.

2. Kitchen and Bath Design Trend: Unique Surfaces

Another popular trend circulating KBIS 2014 was that of unique surface materials.

Formica displayed a wide variety of high pressure laminates that could easily be mistaken for stylish and popular surfaces such as granite, wood, etc. Not only is the material more durable, it is non porous, renewable and easy to repair.

Pictured below is the stunning new River Gold 180fx laminate that appears to be a natural, granite-like surface. The high pressure laminate is versatile in its natural style while still impact resistant, stain resistant, and flexible in its use.

Dekton by Cosentino represents an exclusive new ultra compact product line from Cosentino.

"Dekton by Cosentino is produced from a complex mixture of inorganic raw materials found in glass, porcelain materials, and natural quartz."

Among other benefits, Dekton can withstand high UV levels for outdoor use, the surface is scratch, heat, abrasion and ice resistant. It's a beautiful surface intended for the wear and tear of daily use.

It's also perfect for bathrooms, and the perfect bathrooms would naturally include the ultimate steam shower bathroom with Mr.Steam!

3. Kitchen and Bathroom Design Trend: Lighting Integration

The third trend we noticed throughout KBIS 2014 had to do with the integration of lighting within products.

For example, TOTO USA exhibited the new Luminist Round Vessel Lavatory. This innovative design incorporates LED lighting within the semi-clear epoxy resin material that turns on and off with a simple touch.

Not only is it fun, but it's also a practical solution for midnight visits to the bathroom without disturbing anyone or for setting just the right steamtherapy mood...

Kesseboehmer BlogTour Vegas Photo Credit: Chasen West PhotographyClever Storage US integrated lighting into its back lit cabinetry that you can also customize. Clever Storage by Kesseboehmer offers uniquely organized cabinetry with a variety of options, such as lighting to illuminate cabinetry and dish storage to make it easy to locate the items you need.

As practical as these integrated lighting solutions are, they also go hand-in-hand with emotional well-being.

Imagine integrating ChromaTherapy from Mr.Steam with your steam shower to create an environment rich in warmth, and vibrant energizing color for a variety of emotional sensations during the steam shower experience.

What is your take on these three kitchen and bathroom design trends from KBIS 2014? How might you integrate them into your own home? What would you add?
